OOC Information
NAME; Kiyuu
AGE; 23
OTHER CHARACTERS PLAYED; n/a
IC Information
CHARACTER NAME; Hakuno Kishinami
AGE; Unknown; appears to be a high-schooler, so I'll pin her at 16
CANON; Fate/Extra
CANON POINT; Post-game; Saber+Rin Route
FAMILY TYPES; Virus Busters, Nature Spirits, Wind Guardians
APPEARANCE; Hakuno is as average as average can get, appearance-wise. Her canon height is never stated, but it's safe to say that she isn't much taller than five feet; she's only a few inches taller than Saber, and Saber is only 4'9". She's lean, and doesn't really have any particular curves to speak of. Her dark brown hair, mostly straight but waving out slightly at the end, falls down to her elbows. Her eye color can actually be one color or another; in the official art, they're a dark brown. In the animated opening to Fate/Extra CCC, they're a peculiar golden color. Her wardrobe consists of only one thing: the Tsukumihara Academy uniform, which consists of a long-sleeved tan jacket over a black turtleneck, a tan skirt, and black stockings.
PERSONALITY; If you were to pass by Hakuno in the hall, you wouldn't think she's anything special, or anyone worth notice. In fact, she is actually mistaken for an NPC early on in the war. To her advantage, though, this seemingly blank personality has aided her in battle. People underestimate her abilities, thinking she only managed to squeak by round after round by sheer luck. It isn't until the last few rounds that she's truly taken seriously as a Master. But she only starts out like that! To new people or people who do not know her, she may seem that way, but she's very much her own person on the inside.
Another notable thing about Hakuno is that she's oblivious to certain things. Like really. The phrase "dumb as a sack of bricks"? That could apply to her at times. Don't get me wrong, she can be quite intuitive sometimes. But other times she's... very not. This mostly comes up when topics turn... well. Sexual. She can feel attraction, like when she got flustered over Rin feeling her up on the first day, or when Rin kissed her... but she just doesn't get it. During the latter scene, she's confused and thinks that Rin was kissing her as a way to further strengthen her bond with Saber (she turned out to be right, but still). In another, when she was peeking in on... er. Rin... "transferring mana" to Saber, she didn't seem to entirely understand what the process was, despite heavy hints that will not be discussed in an attempt to keep this application clean.
But that doesn't mean she's completely oblivious to all forms of affection! She loves her friends dearly and deeply. One of the things that keeps her going throughout the War was her desire to spend time with Rin, and she was able to understand the complex explanation Saber gave on how she loved her people. Hell, one of the dialogue options right before fighting the final boss has her saying that only the people she cares about matter to her. And to someone who has no memories of their life before the War, and no real recollection of who they are, this is very true. Over and over again she talks about how important Rani, Rin, and Saber are to her, and she'll do quite a lot to keep them safe. She's pretty good at making friends, on that note! She was friends with Shinji freakin' Matou, resident slimeball of the Fateverse. That sure says a lot about how much she can put up with.
Needless to say, she's quite the determinator. In fact, her determination is what kept her alive in the preliminaries, and is in fact sort of a requirement to pass. When she was struck down, she thought about giving up several times, but managed to tell herself over and over that she can't die, this can't be the end...
Yes, she's afraid to die. Everyone is. This fear has near-crippled her several times, mostly in the confrontations with Julius and Assassin. But at the same time, she's extremely selfless and is willing to sacrifice herself if need be. When it was revealed that, as a program, her data would be deleted after she touched the Moon Cell... there was some fear, but in the end, she knew what she had to do, and she went through with it. She wanted what was best for the world, and if she could help change it, she would gladly give up her life for it.
On a more negative note, she's also quick to kick herself when something happens, rather than let other people kick themselves over it; she feels bad for worrying Saber whenever she's hurt, and when Saber is nearly killed by Assassin, Hakuno blames herself for being so weak. It seems, at times, that she underestimates her own abilities and inner strength, but Rin and Saber are always quick to pull her out of that silly way of thinking.
Oh... she's also pretty snarky when she wants to be. While it doesn't show much in her actual dialogue, her inner thoughts can be quite sharp if the occasion calls, like questioning Saber on her flamboyant, artistic tendencies, or commenting on Rin's tsundere attitude.
HISTORY; Hakuno @ Type-Moon Wiki
SAMPLES
FIRST PERSON; Here. The post itself is mostly action, but there's plenty of talking in the comments themselves.
THIRD PERSON; It was strange, Hakuno thought, the way things worked out. She finally found contentment, in something she never would have thought would make her happy; she was dying, being deleted bit by bit... but her "other self" - the poor, comatose girl Hakuno had been copied from - was alive, and Hakuno was able to hear Rin's promise to find her. A part of her was worried at how her other self would cope with the strange, almost alien world she would wake up in. But then again, she would have Rin with her, won't she? Rin was more than a bit brash, but Hakuno knew that when the chips were down, Rin would do whatever she could to help Hakuno's other self.
So it was this knowledge that let her rest easy, drifting off with Saber speaking softly the entire time...
... Except something was off. Very off. She had faded - somehow, Hakuno knew that the Moon Cell had done its job and deleted her existence. So why was her consciousness returning? Her fading senses were sharpening, and when she was able to open her eyes again, she was caught in a swirling whirlwind of light and a jumble of numbers. That didn't scare her, oh no; the strange, almost ocean-like surroundings of the core of the Moon Cell seemed similar. But the way it churned... something was wrong, and for the first time since the final battle with Twice and Savior, a jolt of panic lanced through her. That feeling only worsened when, after what seemed like the blink of an eye, she arrived somewhere completely different.
Taking her first shaky steps out of the tub, Hakuno nearly stumbled right back into it as something flew right at her.
Hello! Hello! Culu! Welcome! Welcome! Culu! You're new! You'll help us! Hey, do you want to play?!
... Hm. Wake up in a strange area, almost assaulted by a strange, unknown creature, and already being asked to do something she has no idea how to do.
Yes, the irony here was not lost on Hakuno, and she heaved a heavy sigh.
